It is the intent of this Committee, in perpetuation of the basic skills required in the construction industry, to comply with all Federal and State Standards required in the selection and placement of apprentice applicants. The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, creed, handicap, marital status, ancestry, sexual orientation, arrest record, conviction record or membership in the military forces of the United States or this State. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 30, the Wisconsin Fair Employment Law, and all other applicable State laws.

SUMMARY OF PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION, QUALIFICATION
AND SELECTION OF PLUMBING APPRENTICES
  1. Application forms are only available through this website.
  2. Applicants that have taken the ACT during their High School years require a minimum score of:15 in Math and 16 in Reading for Plumbing or a 17 in Math and Reading for Steamfitting. All other applicants must take and pass the Accuplacer test with the minimum scores listed below. The Accuplacer Test is given at WRTP – Big Step in Racine. Call 262-619-6560 to make an appointment. Applicant must score the following minimum scores in order to qualify to fill out an Application:
    Next Generation: Plumbing: 249 - Reading, 237 - Arithmetic, 235 - Algebra OR Steamfitting: 249 - Reading, 250 - Arithmetic, 235 - Algebra
    *Scores for these tests are valid for 5 years.
  3. All applicants for apprenticeship shall not be less than l8 years of age (unless the applicant is a high school graduate at the age of l7).
  4. All applicants shall be a high school graduate or the equivalent (GED or HED).
  5. Before placement, an employer may require apprentices to submit to a physical examination.
  6. All applicants are required to furnish a transcript of their high school record. If not a high school graduate a copy of GED/HED and copy of high school transcript is required.
  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application for job related duties. A copy must be emailed  along with the other required paperwork.
  8. All applicants must supply a resume'.
  9. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to furnish the JAC with the above documentation prior to the interview.
  10. Applicants with complete files will be given a Letter of Introduction upon submission of the application paperwork.
  11. A list of qualified applicants is compiled by date of Application and a Letter of Introduction is issued to these qualified Applicants.
  12. It is then the responsibility of the Applicant to renew their Letter of Introduction by notifying the JAC prior to the Expiration Date on the Letter of Introduction. If this process is not followed ,the applicant's name is removed from the eligibility list.
  13. An employer requesting an apprentice will be given the list of qualified applicants. The employer will notify the Joint Apprenticeship Committee of their selection within a period of 7 working days.
  14. The employer request form for an apprentice shall only be active for 30 days. After the 3lst day, a new application must be submitted.
  15. Applicants will be required to comply with all reasonable requests the Committee deems necessary to assist them in maintaining an objective program.
  16. Applicants who are requested to appear for job assignment (by mail to their last known address), who fails to do so, will be given no further consideration unless a bona fide reason is produced.
  17. Applicants that receive an Apprenticeship may be required to take a drug test prior to signing their Apprenticeship Contract.
