Terms of Plumbing Apprenticeship Training

-Apprenticeships are a period of five years consisting of on the job training, paid related instruction and non-paid related instruction that total no less than 8,000 hours.

-Paid Related Instruction (Day school): Each apprentice will attend and pass a minimum of 500 hours by attending the Gateway Technical College program. The apprentice is paid for the hours that are attended by the contractor. Classes run every other week and are a full eight hour day.

-Non-Paid Related Instruction (Evening school): Each apprentice will attend and pass a minimum of 260 hours that are assigned by the Committee each semester.

-On th Job Training: Apprentices will be taught the skills needed to become a successful Journeyworker.

-Upon completion, the Apprentice will take a Journeyworker exam given by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Safety and Buildings Division
